Drunk Drivers

About three in every 10 Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related traffic accident at some point in their lives. It is a proven fact that alcohol severely impairs judgment. Yet despite the fact that driving under the influence is both dangerous and illegal, there are thousands of drunk drivers getting behind the wheel every day. Drunk driving has now become the most frequently committed crime in the country—and it happens in Texas more than in any other state! It is estimated that over 63,000 people will be injured in drunk-driving accidents this year alone. Alcohol-related crashes represent a staggering 47 percent of all auto accidents in our state.

These statistics are unacceptable, and the state laws and punishments associated with driving under the influence are severe. A drunk driver may have his or her license revoked or even face a prison sentence. Victims of alcohol-related accidents are also entitled by law to compensation.
